Clark County Realtors recently gave volunteers for Loaves and Fishes Centers, The Meals-On-Wheels People, the day off.
The Clark County Association of Realtors Foundation raised more than $3,000 to pay for all of the meals served to Clark County seniors on Sept. 19 and 75 Realtors and associates provided all of the volunteer labor that day.
The volunteers delivered meals to seniors’ homes and served hot meals at four community centers in Vancouver, Washougal and Battle Ground.
Since 1970, Loaves and Fishes has provided meals and social interaction with 35 meal sites in Clark, Multnomah and Washington counties, and Meals-On-Wheels delivery to homebound seniors.
The nonprofit serves 5,000 meals per day and relies on the help of more than 7,500 volunteers.
Sandy Hendrick, executive director of the Realtors foundation, said the mission of Loaves and Fishes falls in line with the foundation’s directive to support needy families and seniors in Clark County.
The foundation also supports Share House, Little League Field of Dreams and the Community Housing Resource Center.
On top of the foundation’s partnerships with local charities, the foundation was recently given full approval as a nonprofit organization and is in the middle of its first fund campaign.
So far, the foundation has about $20,000 in the bank, Hendrick said.
