Current job: I am an attorney in the Vancouver office of Schwabe, Williamson and Wyatt. I have a litigation practice that focuses on representing property owners when the government seeks to take their property for a public purpose (building or expanding roads, for example). I also handle a wide variety of business and commercial litigation.
Proudest professional moment: Can I pick two? In my career at Schwabe, my proudest moment was in 2008 when I was selected as the State of Washington’s “Outstanding Young Lawyer of the Year” by the Washington State Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division. Also, in my life prior to Schwabe, I was a prosecutor in Bend, Oregon. I was very honored to be named the State of Oregon’s “DUI Prosecutor of the Year” in 2002 – just three years after I began practicing law.
First job: I worked at a u-pick strawberry farm, in the fields, helping the u-pickers to locate the best strawberries. I had a fantastic tan that summer!
Fun fact: My husband and I love to travel and we also love live music. These two passions have combined into one as we travel to interesting locations to see great concerts. Last month we traveled to Vancouver, BC (the “other” Vancouver) to see the opening night of U2’s world tour. Last year we traveled to Paris, France to see Jimmy Buffett play at a tiny venue in Montmartre.
Favorite spot on a Saturday night: The old stand-by: Tommy O’s. Can’t beat it!
Favorite movie: Anything from the 80’s, but I particularly love “Breakfast Club” and “Say Anything.”
Music of choice: It would be easier to ask what music I don’t like.
Favorite place to eat: In town, it would have to be La Bottega, but we also love going to Portland for great food.
Motto/Inspirational quote: The Dalai Lama: “If you think you are too small to make a difference, try sleeping with a mosquito.” I’ve also always loved the quote: “Well-behaved women seldom make history.”
