Current job: Family law attorney at McKinley Irvin, in the firm’s new downtown Vancouver office.
Proudest professional moment: I can’t pick just one. In my role representing clients in family law litigation, emotions run high. People are often at the worst point in their lives. Most are terrified. Each time a client tells me they feel better because of me, or that they can sleep at night knowing their case is in my hands, it makes me proud and thankful of the work I’m able to do.
First job: Working at Paradise Bakery at the mall, slinging muffins, soups, salads and sandwiches!
Fun fact: I used to show sheep as a young child at fairs. Also, during law school, I published an article on drug testing in baseball. I was quoted by Senator George Mitchell in his “Mitchell Report” for Congress.
Favorite spot on a Saturday night: Other than on my couch with my dog watching Netflix? I really like Beer At A Time and Birch Street Lounge, both near my house in Camas.
Favorite movie: Some of my top choices are: “The Godfather Part II” (better than Part I, and I don’t really acknowledge Part III), “Jerry McGuire,” “The Big Lebowski,” “Goodfellas,” “Dumb & Dumber,” “Mystic River,” and “Con Air” (Nic Cage at his absolute BEST).
Music of choice: Rap. I’m not kidding. Jay Z, NWA, Public Enemy, Eminem. Some people find that surprising. I love all music, really: Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sia, Adele, Carrie Underwood – and I may or may not have seen Justin Bieber in concert in 2010. I will leave that one open for speculation.
Favorite place to eat: El Gaucho. Locally, I love Little Italy’s in downtown Vancouver, Happy Family Chinese in Camas, and La Bottega in Uptown Village.
Motto/Inspirational quote: “Keep your head, heels and standards high.” I’m not sure of the original source, but I love it!
