More than $100,000 in grants were recently awarded to six organizations in Clark County from the Vancouver Energy Community Fund.
Funds were awarded to support each of the recipients’ efforts to cultivate a strong community and provide support in the areas of education, public safety and environmental conservation and sustainability.
Recipients included: Assistance League of Southwest Washington ($2,100 for its Operation School Bell program); Clark County Skills Center Foundation ($39,000 for new equipment for its Skills Center Automotive Technology program); Evergreen Habitat for Humanity ($25,000 to support Evergreen High School students’ efforts to build a new home as part of its Geometry in Construction Program); Foundation for Vancouver Public Schools ($12,000 for its Family Engagement Project); School of Piano Technology for the Blind ($5,000 for phase one of its Computer and Technology Upgrade Plan); and YWCA Clark County ($20,000 for the Y’s Care Children’s Program).
The Vancouver Energy Community Fund was launched with a $300,000 initial commitment from company partners, Tesoro and Savage, along with BNSF. Recipients were chosen by the Fund’s Community Advisory Board.
