The Port of Vancouver USA Board of Commissioners has appointed Julianna Marler as the port’s interim CEO, effective May 20.

Marler’s appointment was unanimously approved on Tuesday during a Board of Commissioners meeting. She will replace outgoing CEO Todd Coleman, who departs the port on May 19.

“Julianna has exactly the skills we need right now,” said port commission President Jerry Oliver in a press release. “She is a well-respected leader with the right perspective for the projects and issues at hand, and she has the support of the port’s leadership team. I have every confidence in her ability to keep us moving forward.”

Marler has been with the port since September 2008, currently serving as chief financial and administrative officer. Prior to joining the port, she worked for the city of Vancouver for nine years.

During the Tuesday meeting, the port’s Board of Commissioners also directed staff to begin the process of recruiting a new, permanent CEO – a process likely to take three to six months.

Coleman informed the port last week that he was moving on to spend more time with his family and to pursue new opportunities.
