New Tradition joins energy challenge

Vancouver-based New Tradition Homes has joined the U.S. Department of Energy’s Building America Builder’s Challenge.

The challenge is a voluntary national energy savings program calling for 220,000 high-performance, energy efficient homes by 2012. New Tradition was one of 38 builders nationally that pledged to build an estimated total 6,000 high-performance homes.

New Tradition currently is working on a model home that meets the challenge criteria at Fieldstone South, off Northeast 99th Street and 162nd Ave. in Vancouver, which will be completed in May.
