Schlecht projects earn excellence awards
Two projects by Kelso-based Schlecht Construction Inc. were recognized at the Lower Columbia Contractors Association Construction Excellence Awards.
Schlecht took top honors for its work as project manager for Battle Ground-based JL Storedahl and Sons’ Nortech Fabrication project in Kelso. The $3.55 million project included a production facility, machine room, paint and sandblasting facility and offices covering 39,000 square feet.
Schlecht was also honored for its complete renovation of Community Home Health and Hospice of Longview. Remodel of the 4,200-square-foot building cost $840,150 and created a training center and day care facility with office space.
Parr Co. named entrepreneur of 2009
Hillsboro-based The Parr Co. was named 2009 Entrepreneur of the Year by Seattle-based Lumber and Building Materials Journal.
The regional lumber company has locations in Vancouver, Woodland and Ridgefield. It was recognized for its innovations, environmentally sound products and sustainability education program.
Parr was among three companies chosen nationwide.
Designs proposed for Clark College garden
Clark College will have submitted proposed designs of a Japanese garden on its main campus in early January.
Clark partnered on the project with the city of Vancouver, the Parks Foundation and an anonymous donor who committed up to $1 million for its design, construction and maintenance.
Seattle-based Murase Assoc. was hired for conceptual design.
The garden will incorporate Clark’s 100 Shirofugen cherry trees, gifted to Vancouver in 1990. A groundbreaking date has not been set.
