Sleep center earns accreditation
Pacific Sleep Center NW’s Vancouver location received program accreditation from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. To receive the five-year accreditation, a center’s facility and staff undergo a detailed inspection, including an evaluation of testing procedures, patient contacts and physician training.
Forum addresses health care, business
Experts will share their perspective on health care reform research at a forum hosted by the Greater Vancouver Chamber of Commerce from noon to 2 p.m. April 29 at the Hilton Vancouver. Speakers will include Bill Kramer of Kramer Health Care Consulting, Paul Guppy, of the Washington Policy Center and Rep. Eileen Cody. They will weigh in on implications for business, employees and individual health care consumers.

Heart attack response ranks high
The rapid response time for heart attack victims at Southwest Washington Medical Center is in the top 7 percent of hospitals nationally, according to the hospital.
Analysis of SWMC patient data found that more than 75 percent of its serious heart attack victims received care in 90 minutes or less.
The average heart attack intervention time at SWMC was 60 minutes for patients brought in by ambulance, and 72 minutes without. It is one of 25 percent of care centers in the U.S. equipped to perform emergency angioplasties.
