BIA launches Buy New, Buy Now campaign

The Building Industry Association of Clark County kicked off a three-month TV and radio advertising campaign to encourage local sales of new homes.

The “Buy New, Buy Now” campaign will reach an average of 893,000 people weekly. It features what the BIA calls “plain talk” about recent drops in 30-year mortgage rates and new home prices along with buyer incentives from Southwest Washington builders. Campaign sponsors include nine Clark County builders.

New Tradition Homes reaches 20 years

All New Tradition homes sold in 2008 will include free 20th anniversary edition granite kitchen countertops and stainless steel appliances and Energy Star and Earth Advantage upgrades.

The Vancouver residential development company was founded by Alvar and Nancy Helmes after he retired from Honeywell in late 1987. They partnered with six family members on the venture. The company has been run by Chris, Kelly and Kirk Helmes since 1995 while Alvar Helmes has taken on international philanthropic projects. The company is involved with sustainability and energy efficiency efforts.

BOMA seeks efficient offices for contest

The Portland Metropolitan Association of Building Owners

and Managers is looking for Vancouver-area office properties leading the way in energy efficiency for the second annual Office Energy Showdown.

Contestants must be BOMA members and set up an account with Energy Star to track monthly energy records from 2006 to 2007.

Entry forms must be returned by March 21.

Winners will be announced at the June 4 BOMA membership meeting.
