Mike Lauinger

Mike Lauinger has joined First Independent as vice president of its new Community Banking Department.

The Community Banking Department will combine business banking with government lending, focusing on small business clients with lending needs up to $1 million.

Lauinger has more than 30 years of commercial lending experience. He most recently worked for the Portland Development Commission. Prior to that, he managed the small business and government lending programs for Albina Bank. Lauinger holds a Bachelor of Arts in business administration from Portland State University. He serves as an advisory board member for the Oregon Association of Minority Entrepreneurs and has previously served as a board member and treasurer for the Community Cycling Center and the North/Northeast Business Association.

Southwest Washington Medical Center hires two

Jennifer Packer has joined Southwest Washington Medical Center as director of emergency services. Previously, Packer worked for Flagstaff Medical Center in Flagstaff, Ariz., for 16 years.

Douglas Zaharko has also joined the medical center. He is the program director of the new Wound Healing Center that opens in January 2007. Zaharko previously worked at Columbia United Providers as medical management program manager. Prior to this, he worked for PeaceHealth Medical Group and has held several positions at the Vancouver Clinic.

First Independent hires two

Michael Bennett has joined First Independent as assistant vice president and special assets manager. Bennett brings more than 25 years of experience in credit analysis and special assets/litigation. Most recently he worked for US Bancorp Equipment Finance Inc. Marcia Carr has joined First Independent Bank as bank security and safety officer. Carr has a background in bank operations and retail lending. Most recently she served as assistant vice president and branch operations officer for Stockman Bank of Montana.

Wells Fargo promotes vice president

Wells Fargo’s business banking group has promoted David Anderson to vice president and senior business relationship manager. Anderson joined Wells Fargo in 2004. He previously worked as a credit analyst and commercial banking officer at Washington Mutual for three years. Anderson holds a Bachelor of Science in finance from Linfield College.

J.D. White staff members recognized

Tabitha Reeder has been elected to the board of directors of the Columbia Springs Environmental Education Center. She has also passed the qualifying tests to prepare biological assessments for the Washington and Oregon State Departments of Transportation. Reeder is a senior scientist and has been with J.D. White, a division of BERGER/ABAM Engineers Inc., since 2003.

Dan Gunderson has also passed the tests to prepare biological assessments for WSDOT and ODOT. Gunderson is an associate scientist.

Skills Center advisory board takes control

The General Advisory Council of the Clark County Skills Center has elected new officers of the 2006-2007 school year. Jada Rupley, associate superintendent for Educational Service District 112, will serve as chair. Clark County Sheriff’s Office Commander Mike Anderson is the new GAC chair-elect. The new GAC past chair is De Stickel, procurement specialist with Hewlett-Packard.

Bryant and Assoc. hires business insurance specialist

Leith Dist has joined Bryant and Assoc. as a business insurance specialist. Dist has more than 20 years experience in the employee benefits and business insurance fields.

Alpha-Tec Systems hires scientist

Dr. Jason A. Larson has joined Alpha-Tec Systems Inc. as chief clinical development scientist. Dr. Larson has more than 10 years of experience studying the molecular determinants of infectious disease. He holds a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from the University of Oregon and a Ph.D. from Oregon Health & Science University.

Allstate hires financial representative

Jeff Finley has joined Allstate Financial Group as an exclusive financial representative. Finley brings 10 years of experience in the financial services industry.
