Abacast adds to board
Doug Palin, Jr. and Kathy Long Holland have joined the board of directors of Abacast, a real-time streaming solution provider. Palin brings extensive experience in the Internet business. Prior to becoming CEO of Infinity Internet, he founded Pacifier Online Data Service and was western region president for US/Net. Long Holland co-founded ECO-D/OMBI which provides business development and advisory services to start-up enterprises. She has lectured at Stanford’s graduate school of business, the school of entrepreneurial leadership at the University of California and is a lecturer at the Oregon Health Sciences University. Most recently she presented leadership and entrepreneurship training for the US State Department in the Middle East.
KeyBank appoints senior VP/marketing manager
Katharine Coakley has been named senior vice president and market manager in Oregon and Southwest Washington by KeyBank. Previously, Coakley worked at Bank of the Cascades in wealth management. Prior to that, she started and managed the wealth management group for a community bank in northern California. She has also spent 15 years of her career working with Wells Fargo Bank in various capacities. Coakley received her Bachelor of Science in business administration and finance from the University of California at Berkeley and later completed the Berkeley Advanced Management Program. She holds the Series 7 and 63 brokerage licenses and has completed many courses over the years in credit, trust, investment services and financial planning.
State Legislature names vice chairman of Ways and Means
Washington State Senator Craig Pridemore (D-49th) has been named vice chairman of the Senate Ways and Means Committee. Pridemore has been a member of the committee since his election to the Senate in 2004. He also serves as chairman of the Select Committee on Pension Policy. Pridemore was also renamed to serve on the Senate’s Water Energy and Environment Committee and on the Governmental Operations and Elections Committee. His work on the WEE Committee led to his selection as Environmental Legislator of the Year for 2006. Prior to entering elected office in 1999 as Clark County Commissioner, Pridemore served as finance manager for the Clark County Department of Public Works and has previously worked as administrator for a certified public accounting firm in Los Angeles.
Chairman of House Higher Education Committee is named
State Rep. Deb Wallace (D-17th) has been elected chairman of the House Higher Education Committee. Wallace was vice chairman of the Transportation Committee and served on the Economic Development, Agriculture and Trade, the Education, and the Technology, Energy and Communications Committees. She heads business expansion at the Columbia River Economic Development Council.
House Capital Budget Committee elects chairman
State Rep Bill Fromhold (D-49th) has been named chairman of the House Capital Budget Committee. Fromhold maintains membership on the House Appropriations Committee and is a member of the appropriations subcommittee of the House Education Committee. He is also a member of the State Committee on Pension Policy.
Red Cross emergency services director receives award
Scott Clemetson, American Red Cross Southwest Washington chapter emergency services director, received the Company Coin from Lt. Col. Lester C. Moore, battalion commander, US Army Portland Recruiting Battalion. Clemetson is only one of the two civilians whom Col. Moore has recognized with the Company Coin in the past six years. Clemetson has been with the Red Cross Southwest Washington chapter for approximately 16 months. He previously worked with the YMCA as a youth sports coordinator.
WSDOT names Clark County area engineer
Kevin Miller has been promoted to Clark County area engineer by the Washington State Department of Transportation. Miller graduated from the University of Idaho and has worked for WSDOT for seven years. Most recently, he was the assistant to the area engineer for the Kelso area engineering office.
Local professional earns designation
Margaret Murray, with iNet-Realtors in Vancouver, has earned the designation of Accredited Staging Professional. She will now be able to stage homes to prepare them for sale. Murray can be reached on the Internet at www.stagedhomes.com.

Brigida Urban has been promoted to executive assistant with Eric Fuller and Assoc. Inc. She will be overseeing all aspects of administrative function.
Clark College presents exceptional teachers and staffers awards
Three teachers and two classified members at Clark College have been presented 2006 Exceptional Awards in recognition of their dedication to students and the community. Beth Herron, a metal arts instructor, Brenda Knutson, a dental hygiene teacher, and Chris Milner, a math instructor have all received the award. The classified staff winners are Nell Gladson, a communications specialist and Lynn Schinzing, a life sciences staff member.
Human Services Council appoints board member
Mike Piper, director of the Clark County Department of Community Services, has been appointed to the board of directors of the Human Services Council. Piper, who has been director for 12 years, also earned a Community Vision and Leadership Role award this year.
