Columbia CU gains VP
Jill Stracener has been promoted to department vice president of wealth management at Columbia Credit Union. Stracener has 22 years of experience in the financial services industry. She is life and disability insurance licensed in Washington and Oregon and is a securities registered investment representative with Financial Network Investment Corp., one of the largest independently managed broker/dealers in the country. Stracener joined Columbia in 2000.
Financial Advisors-KMS Financial Services gains paraplanner
Heidi Nutt has completed her studies and earned her Registered Paraplanner designation through the College of Financial Planning. She is a graduate of Linfield College with a bachelor’s degree in art. She is pursuing a career in the financial planning industry with a goal of obtaining her securities and insurance licenses. Nutt currently works as an assistant at Financial Advisors-KMS Financial Services.
Northwestern Mutual Financial Network adds two
Kate Johnson and Grant Timperley have joined Northwestern Mutual Financial Network as financial representatives. Johnson is a graduate of Whitman College with a degree in fine arts. Harold Bluestein has joined Camas Meadows Golf Club as the head golf professional. Bluestein has been with the PGA for 30 years and is an accomplished golf instructor.
Doctoral honors for Clark’s VP of instruction
Rassoul Dastmozd, vice president of instruction for Clark College, has successfully defended his thesis dissertation before the doctoral committee of Colorado State University. As a Ph.D. candidate, Dastmozd majored in education and human resources. He will formally graduate on May 11. Before joining Clark College, Dastmozd was dean of the applied technology division in the Eastern Iowa Community College District. Since 2005, he has also been serving as a mentor for the American Association of Community Colleges MentorLink program working cooperatively with AAC to provide leadership, technical assistance, and "best practices" advice to other colleges. Also in 2005, Dastmozd was the recipient of the International Exemplary Leaders award.
Ed Bedecarrax
International Air and Hospitality Academy appoints director of education
Ed Bedecarrax has joined the International Air and Hospitality Academy as its director of education. Bedecarrax holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California Berkeley and his Master of Arts from San Jose State University. He has taught community college classes in California for more than 35 years. As a biology professor, Bedecarrax served as department chair and as dean of instructors at City College in San Francisco. He joined Clark College in their continuing education department in 2003.

Don Foster has joined TEAM Construction as a project manager. Foster is the former owner of Don Foster Construction Inc. Foster received his master’s in education and his bachelor’s degree in speech from Pepperdine University. He began Don Foster Construction in 1984.

Camas executive to speak at Tech Summit
Jon Clemens, consultant for Sharp Laboratories of America, is speaking at the 2007 Washington State Technology Summit in Bellevue. The Summit is an annual regional event designed to bring entrepreneurs, researchers, industry executives, government officials, civic leaders, and economic development champions together to examine technology innovation and the growth of Washington’s industries. GeoDesign grows Vancouver office
Rick Hanford, Derek McGregor and Carrie Beveridge have joined GeoDesign Inc. Hanford has taken the position of senior geotechnical engineer. He brings 35 years of civil engineering, geotechnical design, environmental remediation and project management experience. McGregor will join as a senior associate geologist. His areas of expertise include hydrogeology, regulatory compliance, environmental investigations, geotechnical and geological studies, water resource management and risk assessment and remediation. Beveridge will work as a geology staff member. Previously, she worked in Austin, Texas, as a hydrogeologist and GIS specialist.

Papa Murphy’s names general counsel
Victoria Blackwell has been named general counsel for Papa Murphy’s International. Blackwell has been with the company since 2000 working as the corporate attorney. Prior to joining Papa Murphy’s, Blackwell served as associate counsel of real estate for KinderCare Learning Centers. Before this, she ran her own private practice for nearly two years. Blackwell is a graduate of Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wis., and received her law degree from Lewis and Clark College.
