Evergreen State College announces board of trustees addition

Paul Winters has been appointed by Gov. Chris Gregoire to the board of trustees of Evergreen State College. Winters is the president of Winters & Assoc. He works with the Vancouver Business Journal to produce the curriculum of a continuing education series for owners and senior managers of business. He was the founder and chairman of the first four years of the Vancouver Rotary Festival of Trees and has been honored by the Vancouver Rotary Club as a Distinguished Rotarian, Rotarian of the Year and Rookie Rotarian of the Year. He is the immediate past chairman of the Columbia River Economic Development Council, the chairman of the Clark County Public Facility District and the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. He is on the board of Cardinal Nutrition and Vantage Inc. and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Oregon Society of CPAs.

Clark Public Utilities commissioner appointed to national council

Clark Public Utilities Commissioner Byron Hanke has been appointed to a three-year term on the American Public Power Association’s policy makers council by APPA’s board of directors. Hanke is a retired executive director of the Port of Vancouver, where he served for 15 years. Prior to that he was an employee of the utility, serving in several senior management positions.

International Air and Hospitality Academy appoints CFO

Joanne Rossi has been appointed director of accounting and chief financial officer for the International Air and Hospitality Academy. Rossi received her training in accounting at Clark. Previously, Rossi operated her own accounting company.

Schwabe shareholder elected chairman of Skamania County EDC

Bradley Andersen, a shareholder in the Vancouver office of Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt, was elected chairman of the Skamania County Economic Development Council board of directors. Andersen is a long-time county resident and has served two terms as county prosecutor prior to joining Schwabe. In his legal practice, Andersen represents clients on real estate, land use, employment and construction law issues.

Columbia River Bank adds VP

Zia Bhatti has joined Columbia River Bank as a vice president and retail branch manager for its new Vancouver market. Bhatti has nearly 15 years of banking experience, primarily in Clark County. He is a graduate of Gordon College and is very active in the Clark County YWCA and Affordable Community Environments.

Riverview names VP and branch manager

Riverview Community Bank has appointed Ginger Schmidt as vice president and branch manager of the Hazel Dell office. Schmidt is a marketing graduate of Portland State University and is on the board of directors for YW Housing.

BIA hires membership director

Kristi Gillam has joined the Building Industry Association of Clark County as its new membership director. Gillam previously held a position as an advertising account executive for a radio station in Bend.

Custom Care Valet Dry Cleaning adds route supervisor

Toni Buck has been promoted to route supervisor at Custom Care Valet Dry Cleaning. She has served in route sales and delivery since joining the company in 2004.

Port of Vancouver names communications manager

Nelson Holmberg has joined the Port of Vancouver’s public affairs team as communications manager. Holmberg was on the staff of The Columbian for three years and for two at The Oregonian. He was most recently senior account manager at Koopman Ostbo Marketing Communications in Portland. He also has worked as a communications consultant in Vancouver for three years.

Planning Solutions names principal

Christopher Baumann has been named principal in charge of landscape architecture and vice president for Planning Solutions Inc. Baumann joined the firm in 1995. He holds a Bachelor of Science in landscape architecture from the University of California Davis.

Columbia Springs Environmental names director of development

Alishia Topper has been named director of development for the Columbia Springs Environmental Education Center Foundation. Topper previously served as Portland State University Athletics director of donor relations for two years where she earned her masters in public administration.
