CW Port board elects president
The Port of Camas-Washougal board of commissioners has elected Alan Hargrave to serve as president. Hargrave retired last year after 28 years with local construction company George Schmid & Sons Inc., and he now consults on site work projects. Prior to that, Hargrave has been a retail manager for Town & Country Stores Inc. in Camas.
He is involved in starting up Clark County-based Partners Bank of Washington and teaches at the Northwest College of Construction.
Serving his third elected term on the Commission, Hargrave is the port’s delegate to Washington Public Ports Association and the Pacific Northwest Waterways Association. He serves on the board of the Columbia River Economic Development Council and the Portland International Airport Futures Advisory Group. He is a board member of the National Utility Contractors Association. Jim Carroll, who is in his second year of his first term, will continue to serve as vice president. Rich Gunderson, immediate past president, will hold the position of secretary of the board through the end of his four-year term in December.

Community Foundation names interim director
The Community Foundation for Southwest Washington appointed Richard Melching, retired superintendent of the Evergreen School District, as interim president. Melching and his wife, Sarah, are long time Clark County residents.
Melching retired as the Evergreen School District Superintendent in 2005 and now works as a consultant in the areas of executive coaching, board development, strategic planning and project management. He serves on a number of nonprofit boards including the Clark County Early Learning Foundation, the Evergreen School District Foundation and the Community Foundation for Southwest Washington.
Previously, he served as chairman of the Coalition for East Vancouver Communities, on the Board of the Columbia River Economic Development Council and as a member of the Greater Vancouver Chamber of Commerce and the Vancouver Police Chief’s Advisory Committee.
TIM PROBST
GVCC names Public Affairs Committee member
Tim Probst has been named to the Greater Vancouver Chamber of Commerce’s Public Affairs Committee. Probst is the Chief Executive Officer of the Washington Workforce Association, the organization representing all of the Workforce Development Councils throughout the state. He holds a bachelor’s degree in government and international affairs from the University of Notre Dame and studied politics and economics at the University of Innsbruck, Austria. Prior to his work with WWA, Probst worked for the Governor of Illinois, moving from legislative liaison to state budget analyst to the governor’s policy advisor for welfare reform and workforce development. He currently serves on the Clark County Skills Center Foundation Board and is the Legislative Chair of the National Workforce Association.

First Independent hires relationship manager
Judy Silke recently joined First Independent as vice president and relationship manager at the Vancouver headquarters. Silke has nearly 20 years related experience. In her current role, Silke focuses on individual private banking needs, nonprofit entities and professional firms. A resident of Vancouver, Silke volunteers at Hearthwood Elementary. She also serves as a member of the Executive Board for the Evergreen School District Foundation, as a board member-at-large for Girls Inc. of NW Oregon and works on the Development Committee of the Oregon Entrepreneurs Network.

The Management Group promotes directors
Lynda DuLong to has been promoted to director of builder services at Vancouver-based The Management Group. DuLong has been with TMG for six years. She will work exclusively with builder/developer clients.
Kane Thomas has been promoted to director of association management services. Thomas has been with TMG for five years. He will oversee the operational and training needs of the department and maintain key client relationships.

SWMC names human resources director
Southwest Washington Medical Center has appointed Libby Sturtevant to the position of director of human resources. Sturtevant is a registered nurse who has been employed by Southwest for 20 years. She has worked in numerous positions, including her most recent role as director of recruitment and retention. Along with her continued leadership in recruitment at Southwest, Sturtevant will be responsible for overseeing programs related to compensation, benefits, employee health, and human resources data systems.

SWMC names new HomeCare director
Marc Berg has accepted the directorship of Southwest Washington Medical Center’s Southwest HomeCare, Hospice Southwest and the Ray Hickey Hospice House. Berg joined SWMC in October as interim director of the programs.
He has 25 years of senior management experience in health care and business, and his recent responsibilities include acting as chief financial officer of Providence Home and Community Services and Regional Information Services, and director of business operations at Providence Home Services.
CRAIG PRIDEMORE
CRMHS names interim director
State Senator Craig Pridemore was named interim executive director of Columbia River Mental Health Services agency’s Board of Trustees. Pridemore is vice chairman of the Senate Ways and Means Committee and previously was a Clark County Commissioner and Finance Director for the Clark County Public Works Department. Pridemore will return to the Senate when the legislative session begins and will work with the Board of Trustees in recruiting an executive director by the end of the year.
Cowlitz Bank appoints new chairman
Cowlitz Bancorp. and its wholly owned subsidiary Cowlitz Bank, announced that John Maring, who served as chairman of Cowlitz Bank since 2003, retired from the board of directors at the Cowlitz Bancorp. annual shareholders meeting held on May 25.
The board of directors elected Linda Tubbs to serve as chairman for the Cowlitz Bank board of directors. Tubbs has served on the board of directors since 2004. She retired from Wells Fargo in 1998, where she was an executive vice president, managing commercial banking in Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Utah.
