TOM MEARS

Burgerville president named ‘trendsetter’ Burgerville President and CEO Tom Mears has received the 2007 Trendsetters Award from the Foodservice Consultants Society International.

Mears received the award for his innovation, creativity and unique and lasting contributions to the food service industry. Mears was also a featured speaker on the Green Hot Trends panel during the FCSI North American conference, where the award was presented.

Since its establishment in 1961, Burgerville has become a profitable green. Mears was involved in creating Burgerville’s focus on sustainable business practices, including the use of fresh, local food products. The chain’s 39 local restaurants use 100 percent wind power, recycle their used trans fat-free cooking oil into biodiesel fuel, and recycle and compost restaurant waste. Burgerville also offers an industry-leading health care program and employee leadership development training.

Bank of Clark County names senior vice president

Karen D. York has been promoted to senior vice president and controller for the Bank of Clark County’s finance department. Having worked at the bank for eight years, she previously served as the executive assistant and manager of shareholder relations, and completed the graduate program at Pacific Coast Banking School in August. York serves on the audit committee for Columbia River Mental Health Services.

Columbia Credit Union names new vice president

Bart Wescom of Columbia Credit Union has been promoted to vice president of consumer lending. Wescom has worked at the credit union for 15 years, most recently as vice president of direct consumer lending. He has a business degree from Linfield College and graduated from Credit Union National Association Management School. He also completed training from the MBA School of Mortgage Banking in 1999. Wescom is active with the Remodelers Council of Clark County.

 

JULIE ADELMAN

Bank executive earns graduate degree

Julie Adelman, executive vice president and chief financial officer at Bank of Clark County, recently completed the graduate program at Pacific Coast Banking School.

Adelman has more than 15 years of financial management experience in a variety of industries. She earned a degree in accounting from St. Cloud State University in Minnesota and is a Certified Public Accountant. She volunteers with American Red Cross, SMART Program, American Cancer Society’s Race for the Cure and Junior Achievement.

 

DAVID A. DEL BUONO

Law firm hires new attorney

David A. Del Buono is the newest attorney at Duggan, Schlotfeldt & Welch’s firm in downtown Vancouver. Del Buono will specialize in construction law, business litigation and insurance law. He was previously an attorney in the San Francisco Bay Area, focusing on construction defect litigation and insurance coverage issues facing developers, contractors and homeowners. Del Buono received his law degree from the University of California, Davis, and a bachelor’s degree from UC Berkeley.

Quarry Senior Living adds two directors

 Two new directors are joining the staff of Quarry Senior Living at Columbia Tech Center, which will open in January.

Nicolette Merino has been hired as executive director, and has more than 13 years’ experience as a health care administrator. She is treasurer of the National Center for Assisted Living. Michele Williamson will serve as community relations director, after 17 years working in management and sales. She serves on the Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk Steering Committee.  

 

CHANDA KROLL

Clark College gains international recruitment manager

With the expansion of its international recruitment program, Clark College has hired Chanda Kroll in a new position as that program’s manager. Kroll most recently worked in International Programs and Services at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, Calif. She has worked in international education since 1996, and holds a master’s degree in TESOL (Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages) from the School for International Training in Brattleboro, Vt. Kroll is a Vancouver resident who has studied in Germany, Austria and Mexico and worked in Japan and Korea.

Bank of Clark County welcomes customer service rep

Amber Metcalfe has joined the staff at Bank of Clark County as a customer service representative. Metcalfe was formerly a department head at Fred Meyer. She is a graduate of Evergreen High School.

Columbia Springs Environmental Education Center elects vice chair

Tabitha Reeder has been elected vice-chair of the Columbia Springs Environmental Education Center. Reeder is a senior scientist with JD White, a division of Berger/Abam Engineers. The education center opened in 1997 and provides environmental education for local students.

Open House Ministries appoints director of development

Open House Ministries shelter has named Jennifer Tracy as its new director of development. Tracy was most recently the operations director at a Vancouver-based investment company. Prior to that she worked in the nonprofit sector in Atlanta. She has a degree in mass communications with emphasis in public relations.

Clark College view book team takes national award

Designers and writers of Clark College’s newest view book recently received an award of excellence in graphic design at the University and College Designers Association’s national competition in Toronto, Canada. The view book was created by a team including lead designer Wei Zhuang, writers Dan Overbay, Jennifer Reeves and Vanessa Watkins, editor Erica Schwenneker and photographer Ian Beckett. The view book targets incoming adult students.   

 

STEPHEN HALE

Ridgefield welcomes city engineer

Stephen Hale is the new engineer for the City of Ridgefield. Most recently Hale owned and operated Hale Design Services and Hale Development LLC. Previously he worked with Clark County as a development review engineer and flood plain manager. Hale earned a bachelor’s degree from Montana State University and is a registered professional engineer in Washington and Oregon as well as a licensed land surveyor in Washington, Oregon and Montana.

 

DARCI TRIMMER

Pro Golf of Vancouver names manager

Darci Trimmer has been promoted to manager of Pro Golf of Vancouver. Trimmer has experience with the golf club’s repair shop and sales floor. She recently passed the Player’s Ability Test, which is a first step in becoming golf professional, and qualified with the Ladies Professional Golf Association and the Professional Golf Association.
