Workforce Development Council names grant manager
Shelley Parker has joined the Southwest Washington Workforce Development Council as the science, technology, engineering and math grant project manager. She will oversee the $2 million grant, which serves disadvantaged youth and dislocated workers across the region. Parker has nearly 20 years of marketing and project management experience, and earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from California State University Long Beach.

Waddell & Reed adds financial adviser
Michael P. Brown has joined Waddell & Reed as a financial adviser at the firm’s Vancouver office. He will assist clients by developing customized financial plans and recommending investment strategies. Brown, formerly an account manager at Trinity Carpet, is a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Boy Scouts of America.

SWMC appoints lab administrator
Donald Stovall was named administrative director of laboratory services at Southwest Washington Medical Center. He will oversee the center’s team of laboratorians and pathologists. Stovall, previously vice president of clinical and support services at El Camino Hospital in California, earned a Master of Health Administration from Central Michigan University.

MacKay & Sposito names survey manager
Chris Sherby was promoted to survey manager at MacKay and Sposito Inc., and will work in the firm’s Vancouver office. He has nine years of land surveying experience and is a member of the Land Surveyors’ Association of Washington. Sherby earned a Bachelor of Science in geomatics from the Oregon Institute of Technology.
DEENA BISIG
Clark College professor chosen as faculty scholar
Deena Bisig, a communications studies professor at Clark College, was selected as faculty scholar for the 2009 Phi Theta Kappa Faculty Scholar Conference and the 2009 Phi Theta Kappa International Honors Institute. The honor is awarded to Phi Theta Kappa advisers who have demonstrated excellence in teaching. Bisig received a VBJ Accomplished and Under 40 award in 2006.
