Movers and Shakers

Brian Hopper

After 37 years as an engineering consultant, with 30 of those years spent as a founding principal of HDJ Design Group in Vancouver, Brian Hopper is retiring.

Hopper, along with Tom Dennis, founded the engineering firm Hopper & Dennis, now HDJ Design Group, in 1980.

Hopper's design experience covers residential and commercial site development, private and municipal roadways, and private and public utility infrastructure.

Beginning in June, Hopper will assume his new title of principal emeritus and begin working part time. He will continue to manage administrative duties, provide on-call consultation and review and begin to wind-down as an active principal at HDJ.

His immediate plans include slowing down to "smell the roses," quality time with his wife, Susan, travel and enjoying his grandchildren.

Hopper was born and raised in Vancouver.
