Contractors association picks new executive director

The Southwest Washington Contractors Association last month announced the hiring of Mike Bomar as its new executive director.

Bomar, previously public affairs director for the Building Industry Association of Clark County, will be charged with growing the organization through enhanced member services and community partnerships. Since 1947, SWCA has operated a nonprofit plan center and provided building industry businesses with networking and professional development opportunities.

Bomar, a longtime Clark County resident, received the Vancouver Business Journal's "Accomplished & Under 40" award and was elected class speaker for Leadership Clark County in 2009.

Bomar played baseball at the University of Washington where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Political Communication. After playing a year of Minor League baseball with the San Diego Padres organization, he returned home to earn his Masters in Public Affairs at Washington State University Vancouver.

JONATHAN VINSON

Dr. Jonathan Vinson, MD, has been selected to represent Southwest Medical Group on the board of directors for Southwest Washington Health System.

With its origins dating back to 1972 with the formation of the Family Physicians Group, Southwest today has nearly 100 primary care and medical specialists.

Vinson practices family medicine with an emphasis on reproductive health. He earned his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta and completed residency at Oregon Health and Sciences University.

LISA CHRISTOPHER

The Downtown Camas Association named Lisa Christopher, an award-winning heritage tourism expert, as its first Main Street program manager on June 24. In her new role, Christopher will work to build a strong, grassroots network of merchants and shopkeepers that will focus on a series of activities to spur revitalization of downtown.

"For more than 100 years, downtown Camas has proven to be the heart of this community," Christopher said. "I'm excited about the chance to help the city and the downtown areas continue on this forward path."

A Camas resident, Christopher has worked with several museums, serves on local heritage committees and is principal at LMChristopher & Associates, a Camas-based heritage tourism consulting firm. She also has written a book and numerous articles.
