Washington Small Business Development Center hires business advisor to serve Clark County

The Washington Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is pleased to announce that Buck Heidrick has joined its statewide network to provide small business advising services in the Greater Clark County region.

 

Heidrick joins Jan Harte at the Vancouver SBDC as a full-time advisor – a position funded through 2012 by the Small Business Jobs Act.

As Buck Heidrick Consulting, he has worked for the last 20 years with businesses and organizations of all sizes.

“Buck is a great fit with the SBDC network,” said Brett Rogers, state director of the SBDC. “His broad consulting background will enable him to have an immediate impact with a wide range of SBDC clients. The additional expertise available to him through our collaborative statewide network of business advisors will further enhance the quality of the service he will provide.”

Heidrick currently serves as a fire commissioner for Fire District #3 and is a member of the Rotary Club of Vancouver. He is also President of the Chkalov Cultural Exchange Committee.

The Washington SBDC provides no-charge confidential advising and low-cost training to current and prospective business owners. It is a cooperative effort between Washington State University, community colleges, economic development organizations and the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Evergreen Habitat for Humanity has selected Susan Riley as its board president.

Riley has served on the Evergreen’s board for two years, previously as board secretary.

Evergreen said Riley believes it’s important to focus on Habitat’s ongoing mission of working in partnership with low-income Clark County residents to provide “a hand up, not a hand out.”

Currently, Riley works as an interior designer at DeWils Interiors. Evergreen said Riley plans to bring her attention to detail and emphasis on communication to her new position.

The organization also welcomes in Justin Myers as board vice president, Brad Eriksen as treasurer and Linda Reid as Secretary.

The Washington School for the Blind Foundation is pleased to announce the addition of Geoffrey Johnson to its board of directors for a term of three years.

Currently, Johnson is first vice president of investments at Merrill Lynch in Tacoma. The foundation said his family history and interest led him to become involved with the school.

Johnson has also been involved with the American Printing House for the Blind in Kentucky.

We are very excited to have Geoff Johnson as a member of our Board of Directors.

Biggs Insurance Services in Vancouver has announced that Jenna Albinger, a commercial and personal lines producer, was recently recognized for completing the Liberty Northwest New Producer Program and receiving the professional designation of Accredited Advisor in Insurance (AAI) from the Insurance Institute of America.

The 30-week development program provides studies in commercial lines coverages, insurance risk management techniques and insurance sales.

Albinger has been an employee of Biggs since June 2008. She is a 2006 graduate of Portland State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing.

Wallace joins the VBJ staff as advertising accounts manager

The Vancouver Business Journal is pleased to announce the hiring of Jay Wallace to the position advertising account manager serving businesses and industries in Southwest Washington. 

 Wallace was previously Vice President of TOMA Research, a sales training and consulting firm serving media companies across the US and Canada.

“I really look forward to using the knowledge I’ve gained in the past couple of decades toward helping Southwest Washington businesses,” Wallace said. “The fact that I can drive to work instead of flying is also pretty exciting.”

MICHAEL POMEROY

Riverview Asset Management Corp (RAMCorp), a subsidiary of Riverview Community Bank, has announced the hiring of Michael F. Pomeroy as trust administrator.

RAMCorp said Pomeroy will focus on servicing existing trust and asset management clients, in addition to building Riverview’s client base.

A Certified Trust and Financial Advisor (CTFA), Pomeroy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Denver and is also a graduate of the National Graduate Trust School and the Pacific Coast Banking School. 

Pomeroy is a member of the Portland Real Estate Planning Council, the Southwest Washington Estate Planning Council, and a member of Rotary Vancouver.
