Vancouver Public Schools superintendent receives
administrator award

Superintendent of Vancouver Public Schools Steven Webb was recently presented the 2011 Robert J. Handy Most Effective Administrator Award in the large district category by the Washington Association of School Administrators (WASA), PEMCO Insurance and School Employees Credit Union (SECU).

The award recognizes outstanding public school administrators in Washington State. Three awards are presented each year, based on district-size categories, with a $10,000 award equally divided among the winners.

"This award is a testament to the deep commitment of our community to its children and its schools,” said Webb.

Webb has been a school administrator for 20 years, five of those years serving in Vancouver. Over the past three years, Webb has worked to overcome a budget reduction of $15 million.

BILL BEADIE

Bill Beadie

Maul Foster& Alongu Inc., a regional planning, landscape architecture, engineering and environmental consulting firm, has hired Bill Beadie as principal industrial hygienist.

According to the firm, Beadie has 15 years of experience in industrial hygiene consulting, working with clients to develop safety and risk management plans for large facilities dealing with highly hazardous chemicals. 

Currently, he is the chair of the American Industrial Hygiene Association Risk Assessment Committee.

SHERI CLARK

Sheri Clark

The Southwest Washington Contractors Association (SWCA) has named Sheri Clark to its board of directors as associate vice president. Clark, the North Metro Resource Center Engineer at NW Natural, will replace longtime board member Katie Gough, also with NW Natural.

“Sheri brings a lot of energy and enthusiasm to the board with a fresh perspective on what we can do to improve services to our members,” said Amy Davis, the president of the SWCA. “We are very excited about what she will do for this association.”

Dennis Yalch

Entek Corporation’s Dennis Yalch recently became certified in Whole Building Science from the nationally recognized Comfort Institute.

The certificate allows an individual to use advanced diagnostic instruments such as infrared heat leak finding cameras and air flow measurement devices.

The Vancouver-based heating and cooling company expects to have all of its employees certified in the future.
