Carrie Schulstad, owner of Camas-based The Uncommon Gift, named 2011 Citizen of the Year

Carrie Schulstad, owner of The Uncommon Gift and active member in the Downtown Camas Association has been named the 2011 Citizen of the Year by the Camas-Washougal Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Riverview Community Bank.

Schulstad was chosen by a chamber nomination committee earlier this month. The committee consisted of members of the executive board, elected by the general membership.

In addition to operating a business, Shulstad organizes downtown promotions regarding First Friday Events, Girls Night Out, Holiday Home Tour and other fundraisers. She also participates in design and infrastructure projects around town, including flower baskets, streetscape designs, building façade plans, public art, historic signage and posters. 

“There isn’t anything Carrie hasn’t tackled downtown where she hasn’t made a difference in getting Camas to be seen as a destination town,” said the team that nominated her for the award.

The Camas-Washougal Chamber of Commerce will honor Shulstad with an award on Tuesday, June 7 at Camas Meadows Golf Course. The event is open to the public.

DEVON SNIDER

Devon Snider

Vancouver-based construction firm RSV Building Solutions has hired Devon Snider as a new project engineer to assist with project management.

In his new role, Snider will be responsible for assisting project managers through the design and build process to project completion, according to the company. His duties will include preparing scopes of work and preliminary budgets, monitoring project timelines, managing subcontracts, preparing meeting minutes and project manuals and maintaining the estimating database.

Prior to joining RSV Building Solutions, Snider was a project engineer at Western Partitions. He has a Bachelor of Science in construction management from Central Washington University.

Carla Maritt

Civil engineering, planning, landscape architecture and construction management firm MacKay & Sposito Inc. has announced the addition of Carla Meritt to its survey department.

Meritt is a licensed Professional Land Surveyor in the states of Oregon and Washington. She currently serves as the chair of the Clark College Survey Advisory board and is an adjunct instructor at the college.

GERI JOHNSON

Geri Johnson

Geri Johnson, a volunteer in the Spiritual Care Department at Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center, has received the Presidential Service Award for Lifetime Achievement.

The award, which includes a signed letter from President Obama, honors volunteers that have logged more than 4,000 hours. The medical center said Johnson has actually logged more than 4,500 hours in her five and a half years at the hospital.

In total, more than 800 volunteers logged nearly 65,000 hours at Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center in the past year, working in more than 30 different hospital departments.

Vancouver’s Downtown Association (VDA) has added Josh Oliva to its board of directors.

Oliva, manager of Hi-School Pharmacy’s commercial real estate portfolio, has deep personal and professional ties to the community, according to the VDA.

Family law firm Stahancyk, Kent & Hook has announced the addition of attorney Neal Rosenshein to its Vancouver branch.

The firm said Rosenshein earned his Juris Doctorate from Willamette University and his MBA from the University of Oregon.

Managing attorney Deanna Rusch said she is thrilled to have Rosenshein on board and believes he will be a terrific asset to the firm’s Vancouver office and their clients.

Vancouver-based America’s Premiere Mortgage (APM) recently named Tanya Runkle to its staff.

The company said Runkle has more than 13 years of mortgage lending experience, specializing in working with veteran’s and first time homebuyers. 

Tanya holds a certificate in marketing and said she enjoys working with hundreds of families every year that are looking to achieve the dream of home ownership.

Hasson Company Realtors recently welcomed two new agents to its Southwest Washington branch: Linda McClellan and John Bishop.

The company said McLellan brings 32 years of experience to its Vancouver office. She currently serves as the immediate past president of the Clark County Association of Realtors.

Bishop, who specializes in new construction, comes to Hasson with 30 years of experience working directly with customers, according to the company.
