Greater Vancouver Chamber of Commerce names Marlene Fraser 2011 Ambassador of the Year

Marlene Fraser, customer service representative at Columbia Bank, has been selected as the Greater Vancouver Chamber of Commerce (GVCC) 2011 Ambassador of the Year. The selection was announced during the Chamber Ambassador Holiday Luncheon, held earlier this month at the Heathman Lodge
in Vancouver.

The GVCC Ambassador of the Year is one of the chamber’s highest honors presented to individual members. The recipient of the honor is determined by a variety of measurements, including: community outreach and involvement in mentoring new GVCC members.

Fraser has been a chamber ambassador for eight years and was recently selected to serve as GVCC ambassador chair. In addition to her involvement with the chamber, Fraser is a member of Business Networking International and regularly attends Women In Networking (WIN) events.

The Gifford Pinchot National Forest recently named Garth Smelser its new deputy forest supervisor.

Smelser began his Forest Service career at the Washington office, where he worked for four years. He was deputy district ranger in Florida on the Apalachicola and then deputy forest supervisor in New Mexico on the Lincoln National Forest.

Smelser said he is looking forward to sharing time in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest with his wife, Julie, and three young daughters.

“I really just want to expose my girls to the outdoor world, and that is one of the many reasons I am happy to come back to work in this area,” he said.
