Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt names new CIO

Regional law firm Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt has named Patrick Woodbury its new chief information officer. 

As CIO, the firm said Woodbury will be responsible for management of the information systems (IS) staff as well as implementing the strategic direction of future IS development efforts. In addition to his leadership and managerial duties, Woodbury will oversee department projects, budgets and infrastructure for all of Schwabe’s offices.

Prior to joining Schwabe, Woodbury was the director of information technology at Bullivant Houser Bailey PC. He brings almost 20 years of experience in the IT field and has been involved in every aspect of the technical operations of large, multi-office firms, primarily within the legal field.

Woodbury graduated from Eastern Washington University with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He is involved in a variety of professional and community activities such as the International Legal Technology Association and the Association of Legal Administrators.

RUSS GARRETT

Jordan Ramis PC recently announced that attorney Russell D. Garrett has been selected as one of three new lawyer representatives to the Ninth Circuit from the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington.

The lawyer representative position offers a great opportunity to get to know and work with a variety of jurists from throughout the Ninth Circuit as well as a chance to craft improved bench-bar relations and improved processes for the practitioners within the Western District of Washington, the firm said.

“This appointment is consistent with Russ Garrett’s long standing belief that the practice of law is a profession first and that service to the bar, the bench and the public to improve the law and access to justice is a high priority,” said Steve Shropshire, managing shareholder of Jordan Ramis PC. “We’re very happy and proud that Russ received this appointment.”

Garrett is a bankruptcy lawyer with more than 23 years of experience handling bankruptcy and creditors’ rights, commercial litigation, real estate and general litigation. He earned his B.A. from the University of Oregon and his J.D. at Willamette University’s College of Law.

LUKE SHEPARD

Umpqua Bank has named Luke Shepard vice president and business banking relationship manager for the Vancouver area. Shepard has been with Umpqua Bank since 2010 and is also responsible for business banking in the Gresham and Clackamas areas.

Shepard’s appointment is part of Umpqua’s strategy to build a significant business presence in the Vancouver market, the bank said.

In his new position, Shepard will continue to report to Joel Carey, vice president and business banking center manager for Umpqua Bank.

“Luke is a seasoned business banker who will be a valuable resource for Vancouver small business owners,” said Carey. “We are very pleased to add Luke to our Vancouver team and look forward to continuing our efforts to support the small business community in southwest Washington.”

Shepard was a business banking officer with US Bank before joining Umpqua Bank. He has studied at Western Business College, Mt. Hood Community College and Western Seminary.

SHIRLEY GROSS

Shirley Gross has been named associate director of development/major gifts officer for Salmon Creek Hospital Foundation at Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center.

Gross started in her role in November, joining the office of philanthropy with Legacy Health.

“I couldn’t be more thrilled to have this opportunity to make a difference in the healthcare of our community,” she said. “Much of my professional and personal roots are in the medical community, so I feel right at home working at Legacy Salmon Creek. I’m truly honored to be part of such a positive team of people who care deeply about their community.”

Shirley has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology, pursued at the University of Washington and completed at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Previously, Shirley worked as the donor and nonprofit services officer at the Community Foundation for Southwest Washington. She also spent six years as development director with the Free Clinic of Southwest Washington, where she was a founding board member of the Washington Association of Free Clinics.

Pam Carter has joined HomeStreet Bank as a reverse mortgage loan officer.

Carter will assist senior homeowners who are interested in using a reverse mortgage to purchase or refinance a home, the bank said. She will be based out of the company’s Vancouver lending center, located adjacent to the HomeStreet Bank branch at 2100 Southesast 164th Avenue.
