UMD Technology acquires Santa Clara-based Dimensions Consulting Inc.

Vancouver-based UMD Technology Inc. finalized the acquisition of Silicon Valley-based Dimensions Consulting Inc. yesterday. The purchase is the company’s third since 2003. UMD’s semiconductor test consumable companies also include WELLS-CTI and DB Design.

With the acquisition of the privately held DCI, Matt Bergeron, CEO of UMD Technology Inc. said in a statement that he believes UMD is now able to provide its customers with a single point of contact for its semiconductor test requirements.

DCI CEO Zaid Ayoub will continue to lead the division. He expects the acquisition to expand the 33-person company’s product lines and coverage as well as reduce costs. DCI specializes in automatic test equipment (ATE) interface solutions and offers products such as its ATE boards, DUT boards, which are used in automated testing of integrated circuits, and engineering sockets.

DCI was a wholly owned subsidiary of Credence Systems Corp. from Jan. 2001 to Nov. 2002. DCI’s products and services range from ATE board design, fabrication and assembly, to test sockets, contactors and interconnect systems. The company was formed in 1989 and acquired Liberty Research, a high performance test contactor company, in 2000. UMD has additional development and manufacturing locations in Yokohama, Japan, Phoenix, Ariz. and Milpitas, Calif.
