CREDC members elected
Five new members were elected to three-year terms on the board of the Columbia River Economic Development Council at its annual meeting this month. John McDonagh is the publisher of the Vancouver Business Journal. Lisa Lowe is a shareholder with Schwabe Williamson and Wyatt. Andy Nygaard is a Certified Financial Planner with Edward Jones. Jonathan Avery is the administrator of Legacy Salmon Creek Hospital. Brian Wells is the CEO of Team Construction. Reelected were Doug Anderson, Underwriters Laboratories; Parker Cann, Columbia Credit Union; Curt Christiansen, Georgia-Pacific; Joseph Kortum, Southwest Washington Medical Center; and Monte Silliman, First Independent Bank. Retiring are Mark Fleischauer, J.H. Silent auction to benefit human resource professionals
The Southwest Washington Human Resource Management Association will hold its annual silent auction from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Nov. 14 to support the organization’s foundation in its efforts to enhance the knowledge and competency of HR professionals through funding research, publications and educational programs.
The auction will take place at the Hostess House, 10017 N.E. Sixth Ave. in Vancouver. Companies may donate auction items by contacting committee members.
Bank of Clark County among fastest growing in Washington
Bank of Clark County President and CEO Mike Worthy pointed to his 67 employees as the reason for the bank receiving an award as one of the top 100 fastest growing private companies in Washington. The award, presented by the Puget Sound Business Journal, evaluates increase in revenue, number of employees and range of profitability over a two-year period.
"Bank of Clark County is able to be included in this prestigious group through the hard work and dedication of each and every one of the 67 employees currently on our team," Worthy said.

Red Lion in the black
Red Lion Hotels Corp. reported strong growth for the third quarter of 2006. The hotel’s revenue per available room increased 10 percent, bringing $62.73 each. Hotel executives say the success is due in part to completion of room renovation projects, and the company will now focus on renovating public meeting areas throughout the hotels.
Along with the healthy reports, Red Lion obtained a $50 million revolving credit facility and has repaid $34 million in secured debt. The hotel also completed sale of two non-core hotels in Spokane and Idaho Falls, Idaho, generating $10.1 million.
Clark College communicators sweep PR competition
For their work in design, publications, photography and media relations, Clark College communications specialists have been honored by District VII of the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations. In the 2006 competition, the college took home three gold medallions, three silver medallions and two bronze medallions.
The NCMPR medallion awards competition recognizes outstanding publications, advertising and promotional campaigns created by college relations professionals in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Alaska and four provinces in Canada. The college competed against more than 160 entries.
