Evergreen Business Association to disband

The Evergreen Business Association’s president announced recently that the Vancouver group will disband after its holiday meeting Dec. 12.

Jeanne Jolivette, president of the association, said its board of directors “decided to disband” at an Oct. 17 board meeting. The association started in 1963 and has had trouble in recent years with membership and board participation.

“No one new will take office,” Jolivette said of the board in late October. Current board members have rotated positions for the last few years, and have seen little success in membership campaigns.

“Basically the (total) membership right now is the board,” Jolivette said. “I can’t say one thing is causing it. It’s just sad, but everything has its time.”

The group cancelled its meetings for October and November. The final meeting will be at noon Dec. 12 at Applewood, 4412 S.E. 166th Place in Vancouver. The event will include free lunch and a $10 gift exchange. All past and present members are welcome.
