LOREN JENNINGS

Gibbs & Olson hires experienced engineer

Longview-based civil engineering firm Gibbs & Olson recently announced the addition of Loren Jennings, PE.

Jennings has more than 18 years of transportation engineering, utility engineering and project management experience in the design and construction of public works projects. His background includes working on projects for the cities of Bellevue, Kirkland and Maple Valley.

“Loren brings a strong sense of teamwork to our firm” said Richard Gushman, president of Gibbs & Olson. “His transportation and project management background allows us to pursue much larger transportation projects, fitting in well with our strategy for growth.”

Jenning’s primary focus has been as a project manager for public transportation improvements, including all associated utilities, with extensive experience coordinating aerial utility conversion and franchise utility relocations.

He earned his bachelor of science degree at Seattle University and is a licensed engineer in the state of Washington.

PATRICK GOODMAN

HDJ Design Group, a Vancouver-based civil engineering, land surveying and landscape architectural firm, recently announced the hiring of Patrick Goodman to provide civil engineering design services.

In his new role, Goodman will serve as a project engineer in support of the transportation and site development sections, the firm said.

Goodman previously worked with HDJ survey crews during his summer off from Oregon State University in 2008. He received a bachelors of science in civil engineering in 2011 and his masters in structural engineering last June.

FRED BAGARES

Vancouver’s Rebound Orthopedics & Neurosurgery has hired Physiatrist Fred Bagares.

Bagares is a board certified specialist in physical medicine and rehabilitation. His specialties include interventional spine care, sports medicine, musculoskeletal/repetitive use injuries, electrodiagnosis (electromyography/nerve conduction study) and musculoskeletal ultrasound.

Bagares comes to Rebound after completing a fellowship in Interventional Spine and Sports Medicine with Spine and Sports Physiatrists in Chicago. He received his doctor of osteopathic medicine at Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Northwestern University/Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago.

SHERI HUNZEKER

Sheri Hunzeker has joined the team at Stewart Title Company’s East Mill Plain location.

Hunzeker has been in the title and escrow field since 2003. Prior to that time she was a licensed realtor in Washington and Idaho.

In her new role, Hunzeker said her main focus will be been helping local builders and developers navigate through the final plat process in Clark County.

“Working with the builders and their staff to create homes for our community is fulfilling and exciting for me,” she wrote in an email to the Vancouver Business Journal. “Collecting and organizing all the details to get a plat to final recording gives me a great sense of accomplishment.”

CHRIS TJERSLAND

New Seasons Market recently hired Vancouver resident Chris Tjersland to serve as the company’s first private brand development manager.

Tjersland, who was managing partner in Ultimate Source Northwest and director of business development at Co-Sales Northwest, will focus on developing the New Seasons Market private label in his new role.

“With Chris we have found an experienced and innovative product development specialist who can help us continue creating locally sourced, high-quality, house-branded products that offer our customers a great value,” said New Seasons Market CEO Lisa Sedlar.

ANNE SIBLEY

Anne Sibley has joined Vancouver’s Davidson Insurance as a commercial insurance account manager.

In her new role, Sibley will provide insurance services for businesses and professionals.
She has 30 years experience in the insurance industry and holds a bachelor of science in political science from Oregon State University.

“We are very excited to welcome Anne to our agency,” said Bruce Davidson, president of Davidson Insurance. “She is an experienced and knowledgeable insurance professional who is very client-focused with skills that match our core values.”

AVALY MOBBS

Clark County’s Responsible Growth Forum (RGF) recently announced a new board member, Avaly Mobbs.

Mobbs is the executive director for the Building Industry Association (BIA) of Clark County. She currently serves as chair of BIAW’s (Building Industry Association of Washington) Executive Officers Council, and is also on the organization’s executive committee.

DOUG SARKKINEN

Otak Inc., an international engineering, urban design, architecture and planning firm, announced the elevation of Doug Sarkkinen to principal status within the firm.

Sarkkinen is a senior structural engineer working out of Otak’s Vancouver office. He has more than 24 years of professional experience. His recent design projects include two pedestrian suspension bridges in the Olympic National Park, as well as the 385-foot span cable stay Spring Creek Bridge in Winthrop, Washington.

Throughout his career, Sarkkinen has authored 16 papers presented at various technical conferences including the American Concrete Institute, the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Post-Tensioning Institute.

GARY ARMSTRONG, JIM FINICLE & KIRK MADDOX

Creative Computer Solutions Incorporated (CCSI) recently announced the additions of Gary Armstrong, Jim Finicle and Gary Armstrong.

Armstrong joins CCSI as a senior network engineer and will be responsible for all components of Information Technology infrastructures, the Vancouver-based company said. Armstrong, who started his career with Microsoft, has more than 12 years of IT experience with an emphasis on virtualization. He also holds a bachelor of science degree.

Finicle joins the company as a senior network engineer and will be responsible for the designing, managing & analyzing of IT infrastructures. He has more than eight years of IT experience and will be graduating from ITT Technical Institute with a bachelor’s degree in September 2012, with an emphasis in network communication.

Maddox will serve as a client solutions representative at the Vancouver-based company, working to develop marketing and sales processes. He has more than 18 years of business experience, and holds both master of education and master of business administration degrees.

JOHN KLINDWORTH, RYAN MCFARLANE & KEVIN VAN DEVENTER

John Klindworth, Ryan McFarlane and Kevin Van Deventer have joined the Vancouver-based civil engineering and surveying firm MacKay & Sposito as technicians.

Klindworth holds an associate degree in civil engineering technology and is a registered land surveyor-in-training. He has experience in construction calculations and checking, boundary research and construction plan documents.

McFarlane has a background in field procedures for data collection, input and transfer. He has also surveyed segmental bridges, buildings, pipeline and roadways.

Van Deventer has managed projects from planning to construction, ranging from single home sites and utility systems to large scale subdivisions and municipal water and waste treatment systems.

EVERGREEN SCHOOL DISTRICT

The Evergreen School District Foundation (ESDF) announced their new volunteer Board members for 2012-2013 earlier this month.

New members include: Jennifer Weber (West Coast Bank) as president; Park Llafet (Michelle’s Pianos), fundraising vice president; Teresa Ohrt (Evergreen School District), special projects vice president; Karen Magistrale (The Columbian), marketing vice president; Shane Weisman (Ameriprise Financial) as secretary; and Bruce Jooste (QMTA) as treasurer.
