Cascade Park Care Center names new executive director

Matthew Preston was recently appointed executive director at Cascade Park Care Center, a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility in Vancouver run by Life Care Centers of America.

“During the past four years with Life Care, Matt has provided exceptional outcomes for his facilities and the residents they serve,” said Raymond Thompson, vice president of Life Care Centers of America’s Mariner Region. “His commitment to excellence has yielded three deficiency-free surveys and satisfaction outcomes that are nearly unparalleled. Cascade Park and the Vancouver community are blessed to have such an amazing leader join their community.”

Preston most recently oversaw operations at Life Care’s three Oregon buildings. Prior to that appointment, he was executive director at Life Care Center of McMinnville. He also has a background in dietary services.

“I have always worked in skilled nursing and rehab,” said Preston. “I love being able to work with the residents and with the associates. It’s really rewarding.”

A native of Ohio, Preston earned a bachelor’s degree in dietetics and a bachelor’s degree in exercise science.

Botero KenKEN BOTERO

Longview Council-member Ken Botero recently received an Advanced Certificate of Municipal Leadership (CML) from the Association of Washington Cities (AWC). Botero completed more than 60 hours of training credits to earn this distinction and demonstrated valuable service to his community.

The CML program is designed to enhance the ability of elected municipal officials by providing knowledge and skills to effectively operate within the law, plan for the future, secure and manage funds, and foster community and staff relationships.

Botero has been a city council member since November 2007, and was just recently appointed to the AWC Legislative committee. This year he represents council on the Highlands Neighborhood Association, the Longview Downtowners (2008-current), Longview School Board (2008-current) and the Lower Columbia Community Action Council Board.

Narhi StefanieSTEFANIE NARHI

The M. J. Murdock Charitable Trust in Vancouver recently announced the addition of Stefanie Narhi as executive assistant.

Narhi arrives at the Trust with 17-plus years of experience in business and nonprofit administration, most recently with OHSU Foundation where she was a central part in the development and progression of their mission.

“We are delighted to bring Stefanie into this important role at the trust,” said Steve Moore, executive director of the Murdock Trust.

Since its inception in 1975, the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust has awarded more than 4,800 grants and programs, totaling more than $650 million.
