The Fort Vancouver National Trust reported that Saturday’s Dancing with the Local Stars raised $170,000. The net proceeds will support the Trust’s programs at the Fort Vancouver National Site.mains

The September 7 dance competition at the Hilton Vancouver was attended by nearly 400 people. Nine local “stars” were partnered with Arthur Murray Dance Studio instructors and taught dance routines. The community was encouraged to “vote” for their favorite dancer with their dollars both online and at the event. The dancer who raised the most money was declared the winner.

This year’s winner is Jane Cook, a social media strategist. Cook performed a Cha-cha with her dance partner Phil Auer, Arthur Murray dance instructor and franchisee of the Vancouver, Portland and Beaverton Authur Murray Studios.

Each of the celebrity dancers was awarded a trophy for categories voted on by the audience. The celebrity dancers and their awards are:

  • Rob Cloke – Most Outrageous
  • Jane Cook – Best Technical
  • Linda Glover – Best Costume
  • Amit Gosalia – Best Overall Dance Performance
  • Bart Hansen – Fan Favorite
  • Jim Mains – Most Creative
  • Dellan Redjou – Best Natural Talent
  • Robert Stewart – Best Entrance
  • Shannon Walker – Most Charismatic

“Without the hard work of these nine community stars this event would not be possible,” said Elson Strahan, president and CEO of the Fort Vancouver National Trust, in a press release. “We are immensely grateful for their dedication and support.”
