Kambeitz has been in the fire service since 1987. He has been the city of Longview’s fire marshal for more than 10 years. He has served as president elect and as an executive board member of WSAFM for the past five years.
“I’m honored to be able to continue to serve the Washington State Association of Fire Marshals,” he said. “Our goal is to be the leaders in our state’s fire and life safety prevention efforts.”
Kambeitz has an associate of applied science degree in fire science and a bachelor of science degree in fire service administration. He lives in Woodland with his wife Tara and their 5 year old daughter Kennedy.
JAMES McELVAIN
Vancouver City Manager Eric Holmes appointed James McElvain as Vancouver’s police chief earlier this month.
McElvain has 28 years of experience in law enforcement, including 17 years with the city of Riverside, California. He has a Ph.D. in sociology, with a specialization in criminal justice and race/class inequality, from the University of California, Riverside, a master’s degree in criminal justice and a bachelor of arts degree in social science and criminal justice.
“The city of Vancouver is fortunate to bring such a proven leader to our community, said Holmes. “McElvain is not only a leader in public safety and state-of-the-art officer training, but he’s also a leader in building partnerships, both inside and outside the organization.”
McElvain was selected after an extensive interview process this summer and was chosen from approximately 60 applicants after a nationwide search.
JOHNATHAN AVERY & BRYCE HELGERSON
Jonathan Avery, chief administrative officer at Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center, will become the chief administrative officer at Legacy Good Samaritan Medical Center in Portland on January 6, 2014.
“Jonathan has done a phenomenal job leading Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center since before it opened its doors,” said Legacy Health Chief Operating Officer Mike Newcomb. “His demonstrated experience and track record at Salmon Creek in improving performance at all levels by way of comprehensive institution of Lean principles will serve Good Samaritan well and take it to the next level of performance.”
Avery’s CAO position at Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center will be filled by Bryce Helgerson, who is currently Legacy’s system VP of operations.
“I look forward to joining the team at Salmon Creek to continue to build on a strong tradition of service, high quality patient care and a spirit of innovation that will lead us into the new era of healthcare,” said Helgerson.
KELLEY DIXON & RENE WISCH
Regents Bank in Vancouver has hired Kelley Dixon as assistant vice president credit underwriter and Rene Wisch as credit analyst.
Dixon has more than 20 years of banking experience in the Portland/Southwest Washington region in commercial underwriting, real estate, business development and operations.
Wisch also has been in Vancouver banking for more than 20 years, moving over from the human resources department at Regents Bank to the lending side as a credit analyst.
TIM LEAVITT
The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) has named Vancouver Mayor Tim Leavitt the recipient of its Civil Government Award. In addition to serving as mayor, Leavitt is the senior civil engineer for PBS Engineering + Environmental in Vancouver.
ASCE’s annual awards program recognizes “commendable achievements and remarkable accomplishments of the civil engineering profession.”
The organization wrote that it selected Leavitt “for substantial contributions to the engineering profession by meritorious public service. Through active participation in various community boards, as well as his elected position as Mayor of Vancouver, WA, Mr. Leavitt exemplifies the potential of a civil engineer in public service.”
STEPHANIE VARGO
MacKay Sposito, a consultant in energy, public works and land development, announced the addition of Stephanie Vargo as the human resources assistant on their Corporate Services team.
Vargo has more than 20 years of administrative support experience with an emphasis in customer service. She will be based out of the firm’s Vancouver corporate office.
