Additionally, Portland-based Endeavour EHS will advise the port on environmental, health and safety issues. Cape International of Juneau, Alaska, will advise the port on issues related to the design of the dock and loading facilities.
The port also announced that Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway (BNSF) has agreed to sell two acres of land to the port that will be used to provide dedicated access to the plant.
“BNSF acted expeditiously on our offer to acquire the property because they recognize how important this jobs-creating project is to our community,” said Port Commission President Alan Basso in a press release. “We are very grateful for their cooperation.”
During construction, the plant would employ an estimated 1,000 workers. 120 would be employed in each phase of its operation, officials said.
