Current job: Vice president of operations at Legacy Restoration Inc.
Proudest professional moment: Recently at the Parade of Homes, where my company built an award-winning home, the homeowner of that home said to me, “Nikki, I liked how you stayed on top of the budget; we are well in excess of our family’s expectations.” The sense of satisfaction in that moment is priceless.
First job: Picking vegetables at the age of six and selling them in our neighborhood. If you wanted something, you worked for it. You saved for it. So business, particularly entrepreneurialism, came naturally to me.
Fun fact: I played the flute and then switched to the clarinet because I couldn’t make the noise.
Favorite spot on a Saturday night: Under the covered patio in front of the outdoor fireplace with friends and family. We have big family dinners outside with our parents just about every week.
Favorite movie: Finding Nemo and Monsters Inc. I also like Grumpy Old Men.
Music of choice: Country. Anything country!
Favorite place to eat: The Duke family kitchen! We recently completed a major restoration including extending the outside kitchen wall another six feet. Why is it my favorite? I love the large island that everyone gathers around. I love engineering homes for family living.
Motto/Inspirational quote: My father values business in our community. He would never sell people on things they didn’t need. He taught me the Golden Rule: Treat people the way you would expect to be treated. And never ask someone to do something you wouldn’t be ready to do yourself.
