Walmart Foundation awards $50,000 to the Free Clinic of Southwest Washington

News brief WalmartThe Free Clinic of Southwest Washington (Free Clinic) has received a $50,000 grant from the Walmart Foundation for the Free Clinic’s adult dental program.

“This grant allows us to continue providing dental care to the low-income, uninsured and under-insured people in our community,” said Free Clinic Dental Program Manager, Carolyn Noack. “We are extremely grateful to the Walmart Foundation.”

The Free Clinic is a primary source for the uninsured and under-insured in Clark County to access urgent dental care. Individuals with broken teeth and infection often miss days of work or school, and many are unable to seek employment due to dental issues. In 2013, the Free Clinic dental program provided for 1,375 adult patient visits.

“We are proud to continue our partnership with the Free Clinic of Southwest Washington,” said Madeleine Havener, Walmart vice president and regional general manager, in a press release. “The Free Clinic makes a tremendous difference in the long-term health of thousands of our neighbors across Southwest Washington each year. We are happy to support them in helping bring smiles back to our community.”

To celebrate the grant’s impact associates from local Walmart stores volunteered at the Free Clinic on Friday, November 14, helping patients and providers during the morning medical and dental clinics.
