Excel Dental

Vancouver-based RSV Construction Services broke ground on a 5,760-square-foot branch of Excel Dental at 1409 N.W. First St. in Battle Ground. The single-story building will be constructed with structural brick and pre-painted sheet metal and glass for low maintenance and energy efficiency. Betty Kaber of RSV is the project executive and the project is expected to be complete by the end of 2008. Camas-based Premier Dental is the parent company of Excel Dental.

Chinook Memorial

The Port of Camas-Washougal hosted a ceremonial groundbreaking for the Chinook Memorial Sept. 26 at Parkers Landing Historical Park in Washougal. The memorial honoring the Chinook Tribe will include an 11-foot basalt column and interpretive signs near a man-made pond on property owned by the Port of Camas-Washougal. The memorial was designed by Vancouver-based Leed Design Services and its project executive is Ceil Kirchner of the Parkers Landing Park Advisory Committee. A contractor has not yet been selected.

 

Cascade Park Community Library

Vancouver-based Union Corner Construction broke ground June 20 on the Fort Vancouver Regional Library’s upcoming branch at the Firstenburg Community Center, 700 N.E. 136th Ave. in Vancouver. The 24,000-square-foot, one-story library is expected to open in late 2009. Rick Porter of Union Corner is the project executive and the architects are Portland-based Opsis Architecture and Seattle-based Johnston Architects. The facility was designed with an irregular outline to protect trees at the project site. The project is expected to total $10.2 million.

Custom Manufacturing and Design

The Port of Woodland held a ceremonial groundbreaking Sept. 29 for a facility that will house Ridgefield-based Custom Manufacturing and Design. The project is at Port Lot 4, 1495 Port Way in Woodland. Newberg -based Coyote Commercial Construction is the contractor and Floyd Crouch is the project executive. The one-story, 17,700-square-foot building will be the manufacturer’s steel fabrication site. The project’s construction value is nearly $1.6 million and its projected completion date is June 2009.

Chelatchie Prairie Railroad

Vancouver-based West Rail Construction began improvements on a 14-mile stretch of Chelatchie Prairie Railroad between Rye Junction and Battle Ground that is owned by Clark County. Fred Abraham, railroad coordinator for Clark County, is the project executive. Improvements will include new ties, ballast, line and surface, plus reconstruction of two crossings. Completion is projected Dec. 15. The $1.1 million project was funded by a rail emergent grant from the Washington State Department of Transportation.
