Pink Power exceeds expectations
Vancouver-based Southwest Washington Medical Center surpassed its fundraising goal for construction of its new breast care center, just in time for the hospital’s 150th birthday this month.
The hospital’s Pink Power Strikes Again event raised $815,000 in May – $315,000 beyond its goal. The money helps complete the $4 million building campaign for the new facility, which is expected to give women easier and more comfortable access to screening, diagnosis and possibly services such as massage therapy and yoga.
More than 650 people attended the fundraiser at Big Al’s in Vancouver. Of the funds raised, $29,000 came from raffle tickets for a Ford Mustang from Vancouver Ford. The winner was Barbara Huggins of Woodland.
Design for the new facility is in its early stages and the location has not been determined. The hospital’s current breast care center is at the medical center campus.
