GWI releases new software

Vancouver-based GWI Software announced the release of its c.Support 7.0 software April 1.

The new, web-based software manages tech support services at large and small organizations.

The new software has a Service Desk edition with a deep feature set for larger organizations. The Incident Management edition was designed with smaller help desks in mind.

Demos of both editions are available, and GWI expects to have the software ready for purchase this month.

Study: Skilled IT recruits hard to find

Locating experienced information technology professionals was the top concern for one in four technology executives surveyed in a recent study developed by California-based Robert Half Technology.

Providing employees with adequate skills training ranked a close second, cited by 23 percent of respondents. The survey was conducted by an independent research firm and included interviews with 1,400 chief information officers nationwide.

New Edge offers specialty DSL

New Edge Networks, the Vancouver-based business communications unit of EarthLink Inc. released a new network service that could be unique among telecommunications companies.

The service was launched April 14 and lets businesses tag and prioritize data traffic over DSL access using up to five MPLS classes of service.  

Previously, this kind of data traffic tagging and prioritization were available only on more costly T1 lines.
