Friday Fish Wrap (with the usual homage to Herb Caen)

The baseball stadium deal has gotten a little sidetracked lately. My favorite line is “We should use the tax for something else” Guess what people?  There is no tax money to go somewhere else. The admission tax only comes into existence – at this time anyway – if the baseball stadium deal goes forward. There is a vocal minority trying to sway the commission and defeat yet another economic opportunity for Clark County. The business people I have talked to are virtually 100% behind the proposal to build the stadium and most thought the proposal from the owners of the Yakima Bears was pretty reasonable. As usual the people who support the proposal, or don’t oppose it, don’t show up at the hearings or send emails. So those of you who believe the baseball stadium is a viable and worthwhile opportunity for our community just take two minutes and let the commissioners know how you feel.

Now for the fun stuff…..Elson Strahan still chuckling at the site of Royce Pollard in a dress and sighing that the bogus complaint has been dismissed…..Jason Beatty proposing a trade that even the Mariners couldn’t be tricked into…..Jamie Dotson always the hostess with the mostess entertaining at the Wine & Jazz festival….congrats to Michael Kissinger on a very entertaining and successful festival….Sheryl Beauchaine telling stories out of school (high school that is)….Eric Sawyer telling the publisher that “it’s a done deal”……Chris Layman starting to think he’s an exterminator- so busy looking for bugs…..Sharon Pesut back on both feet and ready to roll, er walk, slowly……TVD still running…..After Hours the Main Event Sports Grill was priming the pump and serving the beer while Simply Thyme wowed them with food and Liquid Gratitude wined em all….VBJ staff working hard and much appreciated!!!!
