Clark Public Utilities ranked highest in class for customer satisfaction
For the fourth consecutive year, J.D. Power and Associates has ranked Clark Public Utilities (CPU) highest in customer satisfaction for residential electric service among midsize electricity providers in the Western United States.
The J.D. Power and Associates study measures customer satisfaction with electric utilities by examining a number of factors including power quality, billing, reliability, corporate citizenship and customer service.
“As a public utility, we aim to provide our customers with reliable service at the lowest cost possible,” said Byron Hanke, president of CPU’s Board of Commissioners. “Recognition by J.D. Power and Associates is a prestigious indicator that we’re on the on the right track.”
City of Battle Ground awarded for wellness program
The city of Battle Ground has been recognized by the Association of Washington Cities (AWC) with the WellCity Award of Excellence for the city’s outstanding worksite wellness program.
The AWC WellCity Award recognizes cities and towns that demonstrate best practices in employee health promotion by meeting the minimum criteria in each of nine WellCity standards: policies and procedures, leadership support, wellness committee, internal and external resources, needs assessment, worksite environment, operating plan, mix of program activities and evaluation.
“Well designed programs help reduce health risks and health care costs,” said Battle Ground city manager John Williams. “Our employees who participate in the programs have been successful in reducing health risk factors which leads to a reduction in the cost of insurance.”
Williams said cities who earn the WellCity Award benefit by a reduction in the cost of AWC employee health coverage. The award equates to a savings of approximately $7,000 to the city of Battle Ground in 2012.
Stoner Electric helps illuminate Columbia Springs
Thanks to a donation of exterior lighting and labor from Vancouver-based Stoner Electric, Columbia Springs, a non-profit environmental education organization, said it is now able to properly illuminate walkways at its education center.
"This opens up a whole new world of possibilities for us" said Gala Miller, Columbia Springs executive director, “one in which we can offer more educational workshops and fun community events even after the sun has set.”
Brian Alexander, project manager with Stoner Electric, headed up a team of electricians who installed $5,000 worth of exterior lighting on the old hatchery buildings along with some state of the art LED lighting on a new classroom designed to highlight sustainable building practices.
