George McCoy, a Phi Beta Kappa Graduate of Clark College, received the 2005-2006 Bank of Clark County Endowed Scholarship. McCoy was chosen for his high grade point average, leadership abilities and commitment to community service. McCoy will be attending Washington State University Vancouver full-time this fall with a major in public affairs.
McCoy has served as activities director for the Associated Students of Clark College, chaired the ASCC Programming Board, actively participated in ASCC’s Constitution and Bylaws committee and served on the Clark College Executive Council. His community service background includes serving as assistant field director for Congressman Brian Baird’s office, volunteering at the Clark County Assessors Office, participating in Students for Political Action Now, and volunteering at the Lost and Found Café. His interest in politics began at Camas High School where he served as senior class president and was a member of the school’s leadership club, AP government club, AP literature club, Japanese club and physics club. At the age of 19, McCoy was recognized by the Vancouver Business Journal as an "Accomplished Under 40" honoree in 2004. He was also honored as a Clark College Outstanding Student during the 2004-2005 academic year.
