Clark College alumnus receives award

Longtime Vancouver attorney Robert Schaefer has been named the 2006 Clark College Alumni Award recipient. Schaefer has served eight years in the Washington Legislature, including two years as speaker of the house. He has also served on numerous boards including the Columbia River Economic Development Council, the Southwest Washington Medical Center and Foundation, and the Washington State High Technology Coordinating board. In 1972, Schaefer helped found Help One Student to Succeed (HOSTS), a tutoring organization. He also established a committee in 1983 that developed the plan for the creation of WSU Vancouver.
