Dick Shafer

Nutter Corp. boss visits military bases and training operations

Dick Shafer, who oversees Nutter Corp.’s pipe crews, represented the company at BOSSLIFT 2007. Nutter Corporation was invited to the BOSSLIFT as a Department of Defense five-star employer. Shafer had the opportunity to discover what Nutter’s military employees do, visit their bases and view leadership and training exercises.

BOSSLIFT was conducted by the Washington Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve from May 23 to May 25. Shafer visited the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Center, Fort Lewis, as well as a Coast Guard Station and a Navy Submarine.

MacKay and Sposito hires controller

Certified Public Accountant Marcy Patterson has joined the Vancouver office of MacKay and Sposito Inc. as the controller. She most recently served as the client service manager for a Vancouver accounting firm. Patterson brings 18 years of experience. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in management science and accounting from the State University of New York at Geneseo.

Project engineer receives license

MacKay and Sposito Project Engineer Kelly Uhacz received his P.E. license in January. He has been with the company for four years. He received his Bachelor of Science and Master Science degree in civil engineering from Portland State University.

Jim Stowe

Project engineer joins Berger/Abam

Jim Stowe has joined the Vancouver office of Berger/Abam Engineers Inc. as a project engineer. He brings 30 years of experience in infrastructure development. Stowe has extensive background with civil, structural and geotechnical engineering designs, as well as construction support for highways and bridges, foundations and concrete support structures, pipelines, water and wastewater treatment facilities, and site grading and drainage. Stowe earned a bachelor’s degree in geology from the University of California in Long Beach, and is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.

Robert Cowan

Designer joins Berger/Abam

Designer Robert Cowan has joined the Vancouver office of Berger/Abam. He brings experience in both civil and structural engineering for public works and transportation projects. His background includes roadway layouts, utility placement and road/utility profiles. He is a graduate of Clackamas Community College, where he received his Associate in Applied Science degree.

Client relations coordinator joins Berger/Abam

Courtney Wallenborn has joined the Vancouver office of Berger/Abam as client relations coordinator. Formerly a news broadcaster for a group of radio stations in New Mexico, Wallenborn earned a bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in communications from Eastern New Mexico University.

Brian Johnson has joined Vancouver’s Muller Design Studio. Johnson adds extensive expertise in brand development and B2B marketing collateral, as well as web design and development.

John Callegari

First Independent hires VP

John Callegari has joined the First Independent Asset Management Group as a vice president and senior portfolio manager. He is a graduate of Santa Clara University. He received his CFA chartholder designation in 2005 and has worked in the investment industry for eight years. Callegari volunteers for the Investment Committee for the Clark County Skills Center Foundation.

First Independent hires VP

John Cameron, has joined First Independent as a vice president and senior relationship manager. He is a graduate of Bucknell University, and has worked as a broker, financial advisor and private client investment consultant for more than 13 years. Cameron serves on the board of directors of the March of Dimes and Alexa Dyer Life Challenge Award Foundation, serves as treasurer of Janus of SW Washington and is part of the 2007 Leadership Clark County Class.

First Independent hires associate

Teresa Ainsworth has joined First Independent as an investment management associate. She is a Registered Investment Advisor with Series 7 and Series 66 licenses and eleven years experience in investment management. Ainsworth attended Northwest Nazarene College.

Moss and Assoc. planner joins Vancouver commission

Moss and Assoc. Inc. Planning Manager Ronald Smothers has been appointed to the Vancouver Planning Commission. Smothers brings 37 years of city and urban planning experience. He has experience across the broad spectrum of planned communities, industrial parks, multiple jurisdictions, growth strategies, zoning plans and comprehensive plans.

New owner for 360 Physical Therapy

Clinical Director Dwight "Ike" Anunciado recently purchased 360 Physical Therapy in Vancouver, completing the transaction on April 1. The clinic opened its doors last June. The company is located at 1308 N.E. 134th St. and offers a variety of physical therapy options for clients.
