The Holland names two executives
The Holland Inc., operator of the local Burgerville restaurant chain, recently announced the appointment of Kyle Dean and Tara Wefers as chief officers.
Dean will serve as chief financial officer after serving as the company’s financial controller since 2006. Previously, he spent six years in the hospitality industry with Westin Hotels and Resorts in Seattle, and nearly 10 years with Columbia Helicopters Inc. in Portland.
Wefers has been named chief development officer, and will lead expansion efforts and the development of strategic alliances. Wefers joined The Holland in 2004 as vice president of marketing and communications. Prior to her work with the company, Wefers worked in Portland as vice president of client services with Via Training and as director of finance and operations at the Children’s Museum Second Generation.
Greg Spear
Columbia Bancorp promotes local executive
Greg Spear of Columbia River Bank in Vancouver was recently promoted to vice chair of Columbia Bancorp, the bank’s holding company. He was previously chief administrative officer of Columbia Bancorp. Spear’s new responsibilities will cover core bank operations including finance, information technology, operations, internal service standards and departmental succession plans. He will also oversee Columbia River Bank’s planned market expansion in Vancouver.
Nicolette Merino
National board elects local vice chair
Nicolette Merino has been elected as vice chair to the National Center for Assisted Living’s board of directors. Merino is regional director of LifeStyles of Vancouver, and previously served as vice president of operations for Chelsea Senior Living in Summit, N.J. She has worked in long term care for 12 years, and chaired several committees for the Health Care Association of New Jersey. Merino also represents assisted living on committees for business management and quality improvement with the American Health Care Association.

Greene receives specialist title
Kris Greene, an agency manager for Country Insurance and Financial Services in Vancouver, has earned the title of financial services specialist. Members of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors receive the title after completing a series of courses, and partake in American College’s national symposium and commencement this month in Orlando. Greene has worked in his field for 11 years and is a member of the Clark County Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors. Greene is active with the Greater Vancouver Chamber of Commerce, Clark County Chamber of Commerce, Greater Vancouver Rotary Club, St. Joseph’s Foundation and Evergreen School District Foundation, and is president of the East Vancouver Business Association.

Vancouver-based structural engineering firm Roggenkamp Erickson and Assoc. has hired Amy Metteer as administrative assistant and Beth McFarlin as financial administrator. Metteer brings nine years of experience to the position. McFarlin bring 21 years of experience in accounting, office management and human resources.

Bay Bank names commercial loan officer
Randy Mattson has been promoted to commercial loan officer at Bay Bank in Vancouver. Mattson has a background in business management and consulting. He is a Vancouver native who attended Clark College after a tour with the U.S. Marines. Bay Bank is a division of Cowlitz Bancorp, which has divisions throughout Washington and Oregon.

CHHH executive director appointed to state org
Community Home Health and Hospice Executive Director Greg Pang has joined the board of directors of the Washington State Hospice and Palliative Care Organization. He has served as CHHH executive director since April 2006. Previously, he was business systems manager for Good Samaritan Home Health and Hospice in Puyallup. He has a bachelor’s degree in speech communication and master’s degree in health administration from the University of Washington.

National council gives Clark College top design honors
Clark College’s Communications and Marketing department recently received top honors from District VII of the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations. The department won gold medallions for its 2006 annual report and new college logo, and a bronze medallion for an adult student view book. Staff contributors included graphic designers Pat McDonald and Wei Zhuang, photographer Ian Beckett, communications specialist Erica Schwenneker and Barbara Kerr, executive director of communications and marketing. Dan Overbay and Jennifer Reeves, directors of student recruitment, contributed to the adult student view book. Clark College Foundation contributors to the annual report included President Lisa Gibert, Vice President of Development Ara Serjoie, Chief Financial Officer Barbara Chen and Special Projects Manager Shirley Schwartz.
Nathan Gibson
City of Ridgefield adds police officer
Nathan Gibson recently joined the city of Ridgefield’s police force. Gibson completed the Reserve Academy through the Clark County Sheriff’s Office in 2002, and is slated to attend the Washington State Basic Law Enforcement Academy. Upon graduation Gibson will rejoin the Ridgefield Police Department for field training. Previously he held reserve officer positions with the cities of Ridgefield and La Center.
