School of Piano Technology for the Blind hires new executive director
The Board of Directors of Vancouver's School of Piano Technology for the Blind (also known as the Piano Hospital) has named Jeff Lann its new executive director.
Prior to joining the school, Lann served as the executive director at the Oral Hull Foundation for the Blind in Sandy, Oregon. He also served as director of the Mittleman Jewish Community Center in Portland.
"I am excited to be part of such a forward thinking organization and to have the opportunity to join what is obviously a passionate community of volunteers, teachers and staff," said Lann. "Through my work at Oral Hull I am very familiar with the Piano Hospital and have long appreciated the incredible role the organization plays in enriching the lives of the sight impaired, their families and the community through education, compassion and understanding."
Kim Capeloto, School of Piano Technology Board of Directors president and executive vice president of Riverview Community Bank, said Lann's enthusiasm, energy and experience will serve students and their families well.
"This is a one-of-a-kind program," said Capeloto. "We are thrilled that a one-of-a-kind leader stepped forward and accepted the position."
SHANNON SMITH
Life Care Centers of America recently honored Shannon Smith, executive director of Cascade Park Care Center in Vancouver, with its Northwest Division President’s Award.
Smith received one of two President’s Awards for the Northwest Division, presented for distinguished service in the long-term health care management role. The Northwest Division includes 30 facilities in Washington, Oregon and Idaho.
“It is in her selfless acts and integrity that she and her team have developed the quality of care, operational excellence and reputation that her facility is known for in the Portland area,” said Matt Preston, senior executive director at Life Care Center of McMinnville.
Sixteen President’s Awards are presented annually to leaders of overall successful facilities or organizations within Life Care, a nationwide health care company. Criteria for winners include at least two years of service with Life Care, adherence to the company’s mission and values statement and successful financial performance.
JENNIFER LARSON-CODY
The M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust recently promoted Jennifer Larson-Cody to the position of technology & information systems manager.
Larson-Cody came to the trust in 1998 and has held several positions on the financial/investment team. In her current role, she will be responsible for ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of the trust’s IT system and strategic use of technology.
A native of Vancouver, Larson-Cody is an active contributor to the community serving on the boards of Vancouver Rotary Foundation and Clark County Emergency Services Agency. She was recently awarded the Rotary district 5100 “Innovation Generator” award for her website and social media efforts.
MICHAEL COLBY & SOPHIE ROLLINS
Michael Colby and Sophie Rollins recently joined the team at Rebound Orthopedics.
Colby completed his Doctorate in Physical Therapy at A.T. Still University in 2011 and believes in patient-centered physical therapy that involves patient education and collaborative treatment plans, the clinic said. He will practice physical therapy at Rebound’s Salmon Creek office.
Rollins, Rebound’s newest physician assistant, completed her Master of Physician Assistant Studies at the University of Colorado Child Health Associate and Physician Assistant Program in June 2011.
