YWCA Clark County's Kassel announces retirement

Jeffrey Kassel, director of finance and administration at Vancouver-based nonprofit YWCA Clark County, has announced his retirement. In a career centered in Washington state, Kassel served as business manager of three organizations: Pacific Crest Academy, Lifeline Connections and Columbia Surgical Specialists. Mr. Kassel was also chief financial officer of New Phoenix/Last Frontier in La Center and executive director of Victoria Village/Chrysalis Enterprises in Stanwood, Wash.

In addition, Kassel served his country as 1st Lieutenant in the Medical Service Corps with the U.S. Army Reserves. According to his friends and colleagues at YWCA Clark County, Mr. Kassel will be greatly missed as a valuable contributor to the communities in which he has served so diligently.

Lisa Ashby Schmidt

International Air & Hospitality Academy CEO Arch Miller named Lisa Ashby Schmidt, principal of Marketing Matters in Ridgefield, as the Academy's national director of career development and placement.

According to Miller, Schmidt's responsibilities will include building relationships with employers hiring students from all four of the Academy's major programs and overall career development programs. 

Previously, Schmidt developed corporate marketing programs for Vancouver-based Nutter Corp. At Nutter, Schmidt built a clientele which included Glumac Engineering, Entek Corp. and the Building Industry Association of Clark County.

 "I'm honored to be able to put my training to work on behalf of the students at the Academy," she said.

Lisa Lowe

Lisa Lowe, a shareholder in the Vancouver office of regional law firm Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt, was recently elected vice chair of the board for Identity Clark County (ICC).

Lisa Lowe has been a longtime attorney representing numerous individuals and private businesses in Vancouver. Her main areas of emphasis are providing representation in estate planning, business succession planning and trust and estate administration. 

In addition to businesses and individuals, she represents public agencies and is currently general counsel for the Port of Vancouver.

Lowe is a member of the Washington State Bar Association and is a present member and past Secretary of the Southwest Washington Estate Planning Council. She is a graduate of the Northwestern School of Law at Lewis & Clark College in Portland.

Cheryl Lohmeyer Halpern & Alfred Nuño

Evergreen Home Loans announced the addition of two veteran loan professionals to its Vancouver team, Cheryl Lohmeyer Halpern and Alfredo Nuño. Halpern, a lifetime resident of the Vancouver-Portland area, brings 12 years of loan origination experience to Evergreen Home Loans.

A native of Hood River now living in Vancouver, Nuño has been originating loans for about 11 years, specializing in serving the Spanish-speaking community.
