LISA FEDER
Lisa Feder, vice president and director of shelter operations for the Humane Society for Southwest Washington (HSSW), has achieved the highest level professional designation for animal welfare professionals, Certified Animal Welfare Administrator (CAWA).
Administered by the Society of Animal Welfare Administrators, CAWA distinguishes top-level executives and managers in the field for their knowledge, experience and expertise. Feder joins a group of just 129 animal welfare professionals who possess this designation.
“Lisa has more than 18 years of animal welfare experience, nine years leading our shelter operations team,” said HSSW President Stacey Graham. “Her CAWA certification recognizes Lisa’s continued demonstration of the highest standards of leadership and excellence among nonprofit organizations. We congratulate her on this achievement.”
CAWA candidates must meet strict eligibility requirements in leadership, management and animal welfare experience and successfully pass a rigorous exam, developed to meet the highest competency standards. The exam tests knowledge and skills in various areas, including leadership, public relations, fundraising, animal care and personnel administration.
Rebecca Brown has been promoted to Clark County operations and programs manager for Meals on Wheels People.
In her new role, Brown will oversee Meals on Wheels People dining centers and fundraising activities for Clark County.
Since joining the Meals on Wheels People team in 2014 as the center manager for the Firstenburg Center location, Brown has reached all-time highs in fundraising for her events and increased the attendance for lunches there.
“Rebecca has been making connections with local business, city and county leaders that have increased awareness and fundraising dollars for Meals On Wheels People,” said Brian Pelky, co-chair for the Meals on Wheels People Firstenburg Steering Committee. “We have been incredibly lucky to have her and her enthusiasm.”
Brown is currently in Leadership Clark County’s class of 2016. She also holds a seat on the Clark County Food System Counsel, and has been asked to be the 2016 chair of the Windermere Foundation’s Children’s Justice Center gala.
