CASSANDRA PARKER
The Southwest Washington Workforce Development Council (SWWDC) has hired Cassandra Parker as a program coordinator to assist with contract management, provide administrative support to the adult and youth program teams and coordinate business and community engagement in workforce investment and education projects in Clark, Cowlitz and Wahkiakum counties.
Parker has more than 10 years of human resources and office administration experience. In her most recent position, she was office manager with New Castle Photography. Prior positions include benefits administration with RS Medical and staff assistant at the Vancouver School District.
She serves on the board of Good Shepherd Montessori preschool and volunteers with several church ministries. She has held various positions with the Sarah J. Anderson Elementary School PTA and been a Junior Achievement instructor and Cub Scout Pack treasurer.
Parker has a passion for learning about and teaching emergency preparedness and recently earned her amateur radio technician license and is enrolled in Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of California Riverside and has done post-graduate work in management and development.
Port of Longview Chief Executive Officer Geir-Eilif Kalhagen has been elected as vice president of the America’s region of the International Association of Ports and Harbors.
The appointment will give the Port of Longview a unique opportunity to showcase its premiere west coast cargo handling capabilities to a multi-national audience; underscoring the viability of the port as a major player in the international maritime arena.
“I am humbled by this opportunity and am looking forward to sharing – with ports around the world – the story of the Port of Longview and its community,” said Kalhagen. “This is foremost a credit to the staff and management team at the Port of Longview, as I would not be able to take on the responsibility of representing our Port on the global stage without their tireless commitment.”
Kalhagen will travel to Hamburg, Germany in June, where he will be officially installed at the 29th IAPH World Ports Conference, along with newly-elected vice presidents from the Asia/Oceania and Africa/Europe regions.
The IAPH is a Tokyo-based, global alliance that represents more than 180 ports and 140 port-related businesses in 90 countries. Their main objective is to promote the interests of ports worldwide through strong member relations, collaboration and to create a more environmentally friendly, sustainable industry for the benefit of the global community.
Toby Cole of La Center has won the 2015 Core Values Award from Corwin Beverage Company.
The award honors Corwin employees who demonstrate the Ridgefield-based company’s core values each day.
Cole has been an employee for 18 years at Corwin Beverage, where he is a delivery driver. The award was announced at the Corwin quarterly, all-company meeting at the firm’s Ridgefield headquarters.
Employees are nominated and chosen by Corwin employees.
VINCSON GREEN & MARK HINTON
MarriageTeam has announced the appointment of two new members to its board of directors: Vincson Green and Mark Hinton.
A Vancouver resident, Green is the general manager of the City Target store in downtown Portland, and has been with Target for 22 years. He is active on many community organization boards.
Hinton, also a Vancouver resident, is the owner of Hinton Development Corporation in Vancouver.
In their roles on the board, Green and Hinton will seek to expand community awareness around the success of marriage coaching.
MarriageTeam is a Vancouver based nonprofit that aims to strengthen and saves marriages through a unique volunteer based, non-counseling marriage coaching model.
