Arts Commission presents first Lifetime Achievement Award

Clark County logoThe Clark County Arts Commission has honored Battle Ground resident and bronze sculptor Austin Barton with its first annual Lifetime Achievement Award.

Donna Roberge of the arts commission and Clark County Commissioner Steve Stuart presented the award to Barton on Tuesday during the board’s regular meeting.

A U.S. Navy veteran, former barber, logger, milk hauler and dam builder, Barton cast his first bronze at age 56. His works stand in the city hall of Joseph, Ore., downtown Tumwater and galleries from Jackson Hole, Wyo. to Santa Fe, New Mexico.
