City of Vancouver extends application deadline for Charter Review Committee

Vancouver’s charter, which serves as the “constitution” for the operation of city government, mandates that every five years, a committee of 15 citizens is appointed to review the charter and make any recommendations for change to the City Council. Charter Review Committee members are required to be residents of the city and are appointed to the committee by the mayor.

The Charter Review Committee will begin work in January 2014, and must have completed its recommendations by early July 2014 in order for any proposed changes to be placed on the Nov. 4, 2104 general election ballot.
