Gov. Jay Inslee will meet with local school officials on Thursday afternoon to talk about investments that help at-risk students. Additionally, he will host an informal discussion about college affordability with WSU-Vancouver students.
The two stops are among the many the governor plans to make this legislative session to highlight the importance of investments in education and ensuring a reduction of the numbers of students who are homeless, hungry or sick.
Inslee’s budget proposal to the Legislature provides new K-12 funding for services aimed at helping struggling students. Inslee also proposed continuing the freeze on tuition at state colleges and expanding financial aid.
