“The Responsive Leadership Initiative was formed to fill a need in our community for responsiveness and accountability from our elected leaders, and is a non-partisan organization,” Montague said in a press release. “Discussions with business and community leaders led me in the direction of creating two business-related organizations, and that’s how we got here.”
According to Montague, who left ICC to form the new organizations, one of the goals of RLI is to identify, develop and support moderate political candidates who are willing to reach across the aisle to find solutions. Additionally, the organization will support and promote the economic development agenda developed by the Greater Vancouver Chamber of Commerce, ICC and the Columbia River Economic Development Council.
The Economic Vitality PAC will serve as the focal point for all RLI political campaign communications as directed by its leadership, Montague said.
“Over the next three years, we have quite an opportunity to make a difference,” Montague added. “Eight key races are going to be critical to the economic future of Clark County and Southwest Washington; passage of the new County Charter, the election of five reasonable, rational and responsive County Councilors and the election of new representation from Clark County in the State Senate.”
